This is the 25th version of Forbes Magazine’s annual ranking of the world’s richest people. This list had 18 newcomers, including John Mackey, co-founder of Whole Foods Market, who is worth $6 billion.

There are many richest people in the world but the title of the richest man of the world goes to Jeff Bezos. He is the founder, CEO and president of Amazon. As of March 2018, his net worth is estimated to be $112 billion. He is also the owner of The Washington Post which he bought for $250 million in 2013.

Bill Gates

Bill Gates is an American business magnate, investor, author, philanthropist, and humanitarian. He is best known as the co-founder of Microsoft Corporation. Gates has held the top spot on the Forbes list of wealthiest people in the world for 18 out of the past 24 years. As of May 2020, Gates had a net worth of $106.8 billion, making him the second-richest person in the world behind Jeff Bezos.

Gates was born into a wealthy family with a long history of involvement in politics and public service. His father was a prestigious lawyer, and his mother served on several corporate boards. Gates excelled in school, particularly in mathematics and science. He enrolled at Harvard University in 1973 but dropped out two years later to join Microsoft with his friend Paul Allen.

Microsoft went public in 1986, making Gates and Allen billionaires overnight. Gates quickly became one of the richest men in the world as Microsoft’s dominance in personal computer software grew throughout the 1980s and 1990s. In 1995, Gates wrote The Road Ahead, a best-selling book about technology and society. In 2000, he founded Corbis, a digital imaging company.

In 2006, Gates announced that he would transition from full-time work at Microsoft to part-time work so that he could devote more time to philanthropy through his foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He remains an active board member and adviser to Microsoft while also working on global health and education

Jeff Bezos

Jeff Bezos is the founder and CEO of Amazon, which is the world’s largest online retailer. He has a net worth of $112 billion, making him the richest person in the world.

Bezos was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and raised in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Princeton University in 1986 with a degree in electrical engineering and computer science. After working on Wall Street for a few years, he quit his job to start Amazon in 1994.

Amazon was originally a bookstore, but soon started selling other items such as music, DVDs, and electronics. It expanded further into areas such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and streaming video. Today, Amazon is worth over $1 trillion and employs over 630,000 people around the world.

In addition to his work at Amazon, Bezos also owns The Washington Post and Blue Origin, a spaceflight company. He has committed to giving away half of his wealth to charity through the Giving Pledge.

Amancio Ortega

Amancio Ortega is a Spanish billionaire businessman and the founder of Inditex, one of the world’s largest fashion retailers. He is also the owner of Zara, a chain of high-end fashion stores. Ortega has a net worth of $87.7 billion as of June 2019, making him the richest person in Spain and the second richest person in the world.

Ortega was born in Busdongo de Arbás, León, Spain, on March 28, 1936. He moved to La Coruña in northwestern Spain with his family at the age of 14. He started working at a local shirtmaker called Gala when he was just 13 years old. Ortega worked his way up through the ranks at Gala and eventually became its manager. In 1975, he founded Inditex with his then-wife Rosalía Mera.

Inditex is a holding company for eight fashion brands: Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Oysho, Stradivarius, Uterqüe, and Zara Home. The company has over 7500 stores in 93 countries around the world. Ortega stepped down as chairman of Inditex in 2011 but remains its largest shareholder with a 61% stake in the company.

Ortega is known for being a very private person and shuns publicity. He does not give interviews

Warren Buffet

Warren Buffet is an American business magnate, investor, and philanthropist. He is the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, a multinational conglomerate holding company. As of March 2021, Buffet is the fourth-wealthiest person in the world with a net worth of $106.6 billion.

Buffet was born in 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska, to Howard and Leila Buffett. His father was a stockbroker and his mother was a homemaker. Buffet began his investing career at the age of eleven when he bought shares in a textile company called Berkshire Hathaway. He eventually took control of the company and transformed it into a holding company for other businesses.

Under Buffett’s leadership, Berkshire Hathaway has become one of the most successful companies in the world. The company’s portfolio includes holdings in several major companies such as Apple, Coca-Cola, and Wells Fargo. Buffet is known for his value investing philosophy and for his frugal lifestyle. He has pledged to give away 99% of his wealth to charitable causes.

Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg is an American computer programmer and Internet entrepreneur. He is the co-founder of Facebook, and currently serves as its chairman and CEO. In December 2016, Zuckerberg was ranked 10th on Forbes list of The World’s Most Powerful People. As of March 2017, Zuckerberg has a net worth of US$55.4 billion, making him the fifth richest person in the world.

Zuckerberg was born on May 14, 1984, in White Plains, New York, into a Jewish family. His parents are Karen (née Kempner), a psychiatrist, and Edward Zuckerberg, a dentist. He and his three sisters grew up in Dobbs Ferry, New York. Zuckerberg attended Ardsley High School where he won prizes in science and classical studies. He then transferred to Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire in his junior year, where he won a prize each year for excellence in mathematics and science and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors in 2002.

After graduating from Exeter, he enrolled at Harvard University intending to study psychology but took computer science instead; he excelled quickly. Larry Ellison is an American businessman, founder, and CEO of Oracle Corporation. Born in New York City, Ellison grew up in Chicago’s South Shore community area. He studied at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and the University of California, Berkeley but dropped out after his second year. In 1966, he moved to Northern California and founded Software Development Laboratories with two partners. In 1977, the company was renamed Oracle Systems Corporation after its flagship product Oracle Database. As of 2020, Ellison’s net worth was estimated to be $59 billion, making him the sixth-richest person in the world.

He is a co-founder and executive chairman of NetSuite Inc., a cloud computing company. As of 2020, his ownership stake was approximately 70%. In 2010, he invested $1 billion in social media platform Twitter. He also owns two professional sports teams: the NBA’s Golden State Warriors and Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes.

Charles Koch

Charles Koch is an American businessman and philanthropist. He is the co-owner, chairman, and CEO of Koch Industries, the second-largest privately held company in the United States. Koch has an estimated net worth of $38.2 billion as of April 2019.

He was born in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Mary Robinson (née Kellner) and Fred Chase Koch. His father was a chemical engineer who invented a process for making gasoline from crude oil, which made him a multimillionaire. Koch attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in general engineering in 1957 and a master’s degree in nuclear engineering in 1958.

After graduation, Koch joined his father’s business, Rock Island Oil & Refining Company (later renamed Koch Industries), where he worked as an engineer and project manager. He later became president of the company. Under his leadership, Koch Industries grew to become one of the largest privately held companies in the United States.

Koch has been active in politics and philanthropy. He is a major donor to libertarian and conservative causes, and he has served on the boards of several think tanks and policy organizations, including the Cato Institute and the Reason Foundation. He has also donated to charitable causes, including medical research and arts education.

David Koch

As of 2019, David Koch is the 11th richest person in the world, with a net worth of $50.5 billion. He is an American businessman, philanthropist, and political activist. Koch is the co-owner and executive vice president of Koch Industries, one of the largest privately held companies in the United States. He is also a major donor to many conservative causes and candidates. In 1980, Koch ran as the Vice Presidential nominee of the Libertarian Party.

Liliane Bettencourt

Liliane Bettencourt is the richest person in France and the 12th richest person in the world. She is the only child of French industrialist Eugene Schueller and his wife, Louise. Bettencourt inherited her father’s company, L’Oreal, one of the world’s largest cosmetics and beauty companies. She has been a major shareholder and board member of L’Oreal since 1957 and is currently its richest shareholder.

Bettencourt’s fortune has been estimates at $39.3 billion as of March 2020, making her the richest person in France and the 12th richest person in the world.
